Margaret Place Obituary Margaret Ann (Carrier) Place Marge Place died Feb. 5, 2012 at home in Brainerd, MN. Private burial will be at Oak Knoll Cemetery, Princeton, MN. She will be laid to rest with her beloved grandparents, Elmer and Mamie Carrier and close to her favorite Aunt and Uncle, Phyllis and Wayne Thayer. Marge was born August 13, 1939 and was the second child of Merrill and Dorothea (Katzung) Carrier. Marge grew up enjoying the rural life of farming and family times at the cabin on Sylvan Lake. She was the proud mother of Rick and Kim. She always enjoyed her dogs, and was a gifted seamstress and craftsperson. She was self employed for several years running her own upholstery shop. She worked in Minneapolis as a Mechanical Draftsperson. Her health forced her to retire early and for several years she lived on Sylvan Lake in Pillager, and her final years were spent at her home in Brainerd, MN where she supported herself by selling her crafts online. She was very proud of the items she designed and made for Boy Scouts and the Wood Badge Program, because all 3 of her grandsons participated in Scouting. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She is survived by her children, Kim "Skip" (Mark) Murray, Brainerd; Rick (Ellen) Place, Golden Valley; Grandchildren, Tom Murray, Brainerd, Jason and Jake Place, Golden Valley; Great Granddaughter, Jessica Murray, Brainerd; Cousins, Miles Thayer, TX, Marcia Dombeck, MN, Phillip Katzung, MD and Stephen Katzung; Niece, Vicki Johnson, AZ; countless distant relatives that were discovered while enjoying genealogy research, friends and her little buddy, Zeke the Westie. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister in law Merle and Lilla Carrier, Aunts and Uncles Phyllis and Wayne Thayer, bob and Suama Katzung, Carl Katzung and her nephew, Jeffrey Nord.
