Maria Vacinek Obituary Maria Kristina Vacinek, of Brainerd, died peacefully, surrounded by family, on Christmas Eve after a valiant 10-month fight against endometrial cancer. She was 50 years old. Maria loved to travel, having many adventures with her husband Eric Twait during their 25 years together. She enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, gardening, canning, being outdoors, crafting, game nights, good food, and craft beer. She was funny, fearless and unapologetically herself. Her generosity, unique style, boundless energy, big laugh, and adventurous spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. She is survived by husband Eric Twait and fur baby Bisbee; parents Jim and Jan Vacinek of Brainerd; brother Brent (Sara), niece Paige and nephew Henry, also of Brainerd; sister Kari (Scott Pelletier) of Chaska; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. A Celebration of Life for Maria Vacinek will be held on on April 27, 2024, from 11-3 at the Northland Arboretum in Brainerd, MN. Light lunch will be provided, and the family will say a few words at 1 pm. Please honor Marias request that attendees wear comfortable clothes. Memorials preferred to the National Parks Foundation, National Parks Conservancy, Planned Parenthood, or the National Wildlife Foundation.
