Martha Leonard Obituary Martha M. Leonard, 94, of Brainerd, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022, at Good Samaritan Village Bethany Campus. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 11:00 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to Mass and stay for a luncheon to follow. Private interment will take place at St. Mathias Catholic Cemetery in Fort Ripley. Born February 12, 1928, Martha Maybell was the daughter of John and Lempy (Rosendahl) Aho. Martha was raised on the family farm in Guelph in Dickey County, North Dakota. Life wasnt easy and funds were hard to come by, so at the age of 12, Martha was on her own. She moved to Jenkins to live with her sister before meeting Benjamin Leonard. The couple moved to California for a short time before returning to Brainerd where they raised their family. Martha stayed home to care for her family until the children were all in school. She worked in housekeeping at Kingwood Nursing Home. Martha never learned to drive and never complained about biking to work. She lived a very healthy life never smoking or drinking and always taking care of herself. She enjoyed getting her nails done which were always perfect, as well as shopping and going out to eat. She liked to take trips and travel, especially to warm weather locations in the winter. She was an excellent cook and an impeccable homemaker. Most of all, she was always even at 94 young at heart. She will be dearly missed by her children, Keith (Gloria) Leonard, of Brainerd, Sheila Meyers, of Staples, David (Wendy) Leonard, of Brainerd, and Denise Triolo, of Brainerd; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben; grandson, Jamie; parents; and 12 siblings. Marthas family is very grateful for the care and kindness of the Bethany Staff. They made her feel like family.
