Michael R. Alholm, 81, of Brainerd, passed away, leaving behind a lifetime of kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family and community.

If something needed fixing, Mike Alholm was already reaching for his toolbox. If a neighbor needed a hand, he was already on his way. And if there was an opportunity to make people laugh, Mike never let it pass.

Born in Brainerd to Russell and Agnes (LeDoux) Alholm, Mike was a proud lifelong resident who spent his life giving to others. He generously shared his time, talents, and know-how with family, friends, and neighbors, never expecting anything in return.

Somewhere along the way, friends and neighbors started calling Mike "Toubo". It stuck because it fit. Mike was the guy everyone followed—not because he demanded it, but because he was the first to step up, lend a hand, and get things done. And with his quick wit and easy laugh, he somehow made work feel like fun.

No day was complete without coffee with "the boys." Seven days a week, those daily coffee chats were more than just a routine—they were a source of laughter, friendship, spirited conversation, and community. Mike treasured those mornings, and the friendships built around those coffee cups were among life's greatest blessings.

Above all else, Mike was a devoted family man. His greatest joy came from his children and grandchildren. Whether he was lending a hand, sharing a story, offering advice, or simply enjoying time together, his family always knew they were deeply loved. His quiet acts of service, steady presence, and dependable nature will remain among the greatest gifts he leaves behind.

Mike was also a man who knew exactly what he wanted. Once he made up his mind, there was little hesitation. That determination first showed itself in the sixth grade when he passed a note to the cute neighborhood girl, Cheri Helstrom. One simple note began a love story that would last a lifetime. Together they built a beautiful family and shared decades of love, laughter, and unwavering partnership.

Mike is lovingly remembered by his wife, Cheri; his children, Dana (Bryon) Lindsey, Carrie (Craig) Pratt, and Putzie Meyer; his cherished grandchildren, Ebony Lindsey, CeCe Lindsey, BeBe Lindsey, Chance Pratt, Cam Pratt, Carly Pratt, Cierra Meyer-Berg, and Cevahn Meyer-Berg; his siblings, Ronnie Alholm, Sharon Swift, and Cheryl Berg; along with many extended family members, dear friends, neighbors, and his faithful coffee crew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Agnes Alholm; his brother, Terry Alholm; and his infant sister, Sheila.

Mike's legacy is found not in the things he built or repaired, but in the people he cared for. He made life easier with his willingness to help, brighter with his sense of humor, and richer with his steadfast love for family and friends. His example reminds us that the greatest measure of a life is not what we keep for ourselves, but what we give to others.

Please join Mike's family as they celebrate his life at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Nelson–Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to the service. Following the celebration, everyone is welcome to stay for lunch, share stories, and remember a man whose life was defined by generosity, laughter, friendship, and love.
