Nancy Sykes Obituary Nancy Ordella (Vensland) Sykes went to be with the Lord on July 29th, 2021 at her home surrounded by family. Services will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church on the Wise Road, with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with a luncheon at the church following. Nancy was born on October 27, 1947 to Sam and Verona Vensland in Grand Forks, ND. She went to Richfield High School. Nancy met her husband, Jim, in Lafayette, MN, and a year and a half later, on November 9, 1965 they were married. In 1978 they moved to Brainerd where she ran "Nancys Daycare" for 20 years. She enjoyed shopping, spending time with her grandchildren, and reminiscing on the cruise Nancy and Jim went on with their son and daughter-in-law. She is survived by her husband, Jim; three children, James (Kim) Sykes Jr., Kelly (Mike) Lyons, Donna (James) Carner; 12 grandchildren, Maddy (Sharese) Deon, James Sykes, Travis (Tiffany) Sykes, Tyler (Amanda) Lyons, Brittany (Tyler) Rosekrans, Terry Stansbury, Taylor (Sarah) Lyons, Noah Lyons, Brooklyn Lyons, Duante Carner, Haley Carner, and Danielle Carner; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Gary (Marion) Vensland. Her smile will always be remembered. Arrangements have been completed by Nelson-Doran Funeral Home, Brainerd.
