Nick Dumbeck Obituary Nick J. Dumbeck, 95, of Brainerd, passed away Friday, December 1, 2023, at his home with his sons by his side.
The family will celebrate Nicks life with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Brainerd. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to Mass. There will also be a visitation on Tuesday evening from 4 p.m. 7 p.m. at Nelson Doran Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley after Mass on Wednesday.
Born December 14, 1927, in Brainerd, Nick was the son of Joseph and Mary (Fleischhacker) Dumbeck. He graduated from Washington High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served his country in the Korean War and was honorably discharged after # of years. In 1955, he married the love of his life, Ardyce "Ardy" Nubbe. The couple enjoyed 61 years together and Nick missed her every day of the last seven. Nick was a truck driver and worked for Dondelinger and BTS for many years. He was an active member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, and his big heart encouraged him to volunteer for numerous community events and organizations. He enjoyed working at their home, traveling with Ardy, tractors, puzzles, fishing, hunting, and expanding his coin collection. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who knew how to love his family family was EVERYTHING to Nick.
He will be missed by his sons, Brad, Ron (Vicki), and Jamie (Jodi); grandchildren, Kayla (Darrick), Brennan, Michael (Emily), and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Darrick, Jr., Abigail, Charlotte, and Ivan; sister, Kathy (Mike) Wetzel; special friend, Sue Hanson; good friend, Jerry Handerland; and untold others.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardy; parents; brother, Frank; and sisters, Marie Tougas and Arline Jarnot.
