Oscar Eksten Obituary Oscar Eksten, age 90, of Merrifield, sang his way to heaven on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Edgewood Vista Brainerd. A Celebration of Oscar's Life will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Nelson - Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services and to stay for a lunch and fellowship following. Oscar was born on August 7, 1930 to Alrik and Nellie (Edeburn) Eksten in Pillager. He married Donna Jean Anderson in Brainerd. He worked as a stone mason and was a lifelong member of the Bricklayers Union. He loved nature, was an avid fisherman, hunter, berry picker and mushroom hunter. He loved his family very much, and you would often find him with a cup of coffee, eating cookies while telling stories of his adventures in nature. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Donna; daughter Madhu (Pam) Bhat; son, Larry (Ellen) Eksten; grandchildren, Suzanne Lewis, Teresa (Luke) Davis, Katie (Jose) Eksten-Gomez, Matthew (Michelle) Eksten; and many great-grandchildren.
