Patricia Larson Obituary Larson, Patricia Yvonne (Doran) Patricia Yvonne (Doran) Larson age 76 of Longville, MN, formerly of Blaine, MN passed away peacefully on April 29. Patricia was born April 3, 1937 in Thief River Falls, MN and grew up in South St Paul, MN where she graduated from South St Paul High School in 1955. She attended the University of Minnesota where she met her lifelong love, partner and best friend, Philip Larson. Married in June, 1958 they settled in Blaine, MN where they raised their three sons. Patricia was a loving and devoted mother and homemaker focused on her family, her community and her church. She served as the first female board member for District 10 of Minnesota Hockey (then MAHA - Minnesota Amateur Hockey Association). An active member of the Coon Rapids United Methodist Church for 51 years, she generously volunteered her time in positions ranging from choir member to Sunday School Administrator to serving 12 years as the Chair of the Board of Trustees. She was the Chair of the church's Vision 2020 campaign that resulted in a multimillionaire dollar renovation and building program, modernizing and expanding the church's Coon Rapids campus. After raising her sons, Patricia worked for many years in the Anoka-Hennepin School District and eventually she and Phil moved to their dream home on Mule Lake, just outside of Longville, MN. As part of her new community, Pat became a passionate advocate for protecting the lakes, forests, and natural environment of Cass County and surrounding region of North Central Minnesota. She served on the board of the Leech Lake Area Watershed Foundation from 1999 to 2011 and as board chair from 2003 to 2009. Under her leadership, many land conservation projects were accomplished to protect critical fish and wildlife habitats. The most notable project is the Mule Lake Wildlife Management Area (WMA) that protected over three miles of shoreline and approximately 386 acres on Mule Lake, now owned and managed by the MN DNR. Pat's dedication and commitment to her community and to land conservation leaves a legacy of natural resources for the public to enjoy forever. She is preceded in Death by her parents Clarence and Hermia Doran. Survived by Phil, her loving husband of nearly 55 years, and her sons Mike (Lynn), Matt (Catherine), and Tim (Renee), grandchildren Dan, Erika, Brett, Katie, Erik, Robert and Lauren, and great grandson Gavin. Memorial services for Patricia were held on Saturday, May 4 at 1:00 pm at Longville Community Church, Longville, MN. A graveside committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sataurday, June 8, 2013 at Joyce Chapel Cemetery in Coon Rapids. Memorials in lieu of flowers preferred to Leech Lake Area Watershed Foundation.
