Ralph 'Herb' Scheuss Obituary Beloved husband, father, blended father, father-in-law, brother-in-law, grandfather and great grandfather. Passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Ralph better known as Herb, born on March 24, 1940 in Leichlingen, Germany. Herb is survived by his wife, Joyce Weinhandl Scheuss, his children Shari (Kent) DeBlieck, Brian (Kathy) Scheuss, Debra (Dave) Scheuss, Tracey (Eric) Malone, his grandchildren Melissa Scalora, Michael Scheuss, Samuel Scheuss, Robbie Rick, Brandon Rick, Ryan Honken, Joshua Scheuss, Kayla Sandgren Austin Malone, Kobe Malone, Mason Malone, Kennedy Malone, Maddie Malone, many great grandchildren, sister-in-law Janet Weinhandl, brother-in-law John (Jackie) Weinhandl and brother Jorg Scheuss. Proceeded in death is his grandmother Walburga Struckmeyer, and grandfather Ralph Falconer, mother Erika Struckmeyer, father Ralph Scheuss, brother Detleff Scheuss, wife Kathleen Erlandson Scheuss, son Troy Brown as well as many friends and other loved ones. Herb had a remarkable coming to America story. He immigrated to the U.S. in January 1954 as a 13 year old arriving on the MS Italia solo through Ellis Island to live with his grandfather and family in Brainerd which hardly describes his life leading to and during. Herb served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1962 after which he married Kathleen Erlandson and had 3 children, relocated his family to Crosslake, Minnesota where he owned and operated Mermaid Bait & Tackle until his retirement in 1997. Retirement took him and Kathy to Arizona. After her passing, a long lost love from 50 years before came back into his life. On June 9, 2007 he married Joyce Weinhandl, blended two families and lived happily ever after in Brainerd where it all started. Ralph Herbert Scheuss Celebration of Life will be held at the Northland Arboretum, 14250 Conservation Drive, Baxter, Minnesota 56401 on Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 12:00 - 3:00p.m. with a light lunch at noon before sharing with program at 2:00p.m. Many thanks and gratitude to the Good Samaritan Hospice staff and chaplain, and Tracey and Eric Malone for the phenomenal care, love and devotion provided Herb throughout his final days.
