Obituary

Randy Kjera Obituary Randolph John Kjera passed away Wednesday, July 18th, 2012 at home on Lower Sylvan Lake near Pillager after a brief battle with cancer. Randy was born October 26, 1953 in Minneapolis, and adopted at 18 months by Roy and Ida Kjera. He grew up near Lake Harriet and graduated from Southwest in 1971. Sometimes known as Santa, Buddha, Truckin', Guru and many other nicknames, Randy had a wonderful sense of humor, a quick smile, and touched everyone he met. He had a love of music, sports, travel and camping and will be missed dearly by all his family and friends. Randy played hard and worked hard - starting as a paperboy at 12 and finishing at the Brainerd Post Office where he worked for the last 19 years. Many will remember him by his long white hair, full beard and perennial shorts. Randy is survived by his wife, Lois; daughters Sonja (of Brainerd) and Trina (of Duluth) and son Aron (Father Timothy of Pennsylvania); Stepdaughter Lael Verrips and Stepson Jesse Verrips (both in Idaho); Grandchildren Silas, Calvin, Richard, Laney, Henry and Thomas; his sister Janet (Ray) Sterling of Minneapolis, nieces Zoey, Juliet and Erika, and nephew Paul. He was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles. A memorial picnic will be held at Buffalo Hills Lions Park, Brainerd, MN on Aug. 12 from noon until 3.
