Ray 'Dutch' Billman Sr. Obituary Ray "Dutch" Billman Sr., 91, passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, at Essentia Health-St. Josephs Medical Center, Brainerd, surrounded by his family. He was born March 18, 1932, to Arthur and Clara (Lathrup) Billman. He married LaVonne Spencer on July 12, 1952, in Brainerd. Ray was a laborer and helped build the hospital, the paper mill, and the high rise. He loved doing puzzles and baking cookies. He loved his family very much. Survivors include his sons, Rick, Priest River, Idaho, Randy (Loni), Nisswa, and Rusty (Laura), Merrifield; eight grandchildren, Mathew and Joleen Billman, Ricky (Shawna) Billman, Coralee (Bryce) Barth, Sarah (Ray) Hinshaw, Lyla Billman, Ryan Billman and Adam Billman; and 10 great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Emily, Libbie, Parker Billman, Chris and Cody Billman, Wyatt Barth, and Regan, Mandolin and Clara Mae Barth; three brothers, Bob, Earl and Donald; brother-in-law, Tony (Bonnie) Berndt; sisters-in-law, Ginny Spencer and Hazel Spencer; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by his wife; a son, Ray Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Barb; a grandson, John Leavitt; a granddaughter, Laureen Renee Billman; and siblings Lynn, Margie, Irene, Harry, and Clarence. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather from 9:30-11 a.m. for visitation.
