Richard 'Dick or Emmy' Emahiser Obituary Richard "Dick" or "Emmy" Emahiser, 70, formerly of Eden Prairie, died Friday, February 19, 2021 at his home in Crosslake. A Celebration of Dicks Life will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the gymnasium at the Eden Prairie High School, 17185 Valley View Road, Eden Prairie, MN 55346. Visitation will start at 1:00 p.m and a memorial service will start at 2:00 p.m. Dick was born July 1, 1950, in Willmar, the son of Robert and Genevieve (Noel) Emahiser. After graduating from Mounds View High School, Dick earned a degree in Education from Hamline University. In 1972, he began a teaching career with the Eden Prairie School District that spanned three decades. Dicks true passion was hockey. He was actively involved in coaching and mentoring players of all ages to learn the sport he loved. He hosted clinics across the country and in Czechoslovakia. Dick enjoyed instilling the value of appreciating the land and resources around you. He brought that passion to the classroom and was instrumental in creating Environmental Education. As big as his passion was for hockey, nothing meant more to him than family. He cherished spending time with the grandkids, taking camping trips with extended family and fishing the lake for a few walleyes. Although, he did not sit down much, he loved projects. Dick was a "jack of all trades" and a very skilled carpenter. Whether he was building a cabin with his dad and best friends or helping neighbors decorate for Christmas, Dick was always generous with his time. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Diane; son, Rob (Wendy) Emahiser; grandchildren, Ali Trebesch, Trevor Emahiser, Abbey Emahiser, Peighton Novakowski, and Coby Novakowski; his sister, Susan (Robert) Monroe; siblings-in-law, Paula (Brian) Barrer, Deb Quade, and Ed (Denise) Quade; his four-legged best friend, Branson; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Jennifer. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
