Richard Pickar Obituary Richard (Bud) Leo Pickar, 89, resident of Fort Ripley, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the St. Cloud VA Hospital. He was born September 21, 1928 to Leo and Marion (DeChaine) Pickar in Brainerd. Bud was united in marriage to Laree Plante on September 26, 1953 at St. Mathias Catholic Church. He served in the US Army from 1950 1952, active duty in the Korean Conflict and member of the Minnesota National Guard. He was employed with the railroad, worked as a truck driver, also farming crops and raising black angus cattle. He was a rural mail carrier, retiring after 30 years. Bud and Laree traveled the southern US starting in 1983, enjoying sights, warm weather and many friends. He was a lifelong member of St. Mathias Catholic Church, member of the American Legion and Moose Club. Bud is survived by 5-children, Sandra (Larry) DeRosier, Thomas (Latsy) Pickar, Timothy (Rose) Pickar, Terry (Rhonda) Pickar, Sheri (John) Hutchinson; 15-grandchildren; 27-great grandchildren; 1- great great grandchild; many nieces and nephews; and his sisters, Annamay Koering, Donna Plante and Dorothy Plante. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Marion and his brother, James. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at St. Mathias Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue the hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Military Honors will be provided by the Brainerd American Legion and V.F.W.
