Obituary

Robert Arnold Obituary Robert "Bob" Arnold, 81, of Brainerd in his usual fashion rushed his way through hospice and passed away peacefully at his home, Bethany Senior Apartments, on April 15, 2025. Bob was born February 7th, 1944, to Carson and Loreen Arnold in Bungo Township. He graduated from Pine River High School as Co-Valedictorian and went on to serve in the Army from 1963 to 1968, during which time he was primarily stationed in Berlin and spent much of his service working as a small arms repairman. Following his military service he worked for the Brainerd Post Office. He married Kimberly Nohner on May 26, 1979. They went on to have two daughters Laura and Heather that were his world. He retired from the Post Office after 27 years and then worked various jobs including shipping manager at Kinzie Candles and at Thurlow Hardware for many years. Bob was an exceedingly devoted husband to his wife Kimberly. He was a completely selfless man who always put his family and others before himself. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life. Bob was never mistaken as being verbose but when he did speak his sense of humor and kind nature shone through. His laugh was infectious, and his bright smile always met his eyes. He could often be found sneaking away for a moment of solitude with his pipe. He had a passion for history and guns and was well known throughout the community for being an extremely skilled gunsmith. Bob is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kimberly; daughters Laura (Alex Meese); Heather (Nolan) Murphy; grandsons Dylan and Graysin; niece Deborah Blackburn. He was preceded in death by his parents Carson and Loreen Arnold, as well as his sister Sharon Swearingen. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Bethany Senior Apartments where he spent the last five years of his life during which he was surrounded by loving caregivers. They also wish to thank Good Samaritan Hospice for the services they provided in his final days. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday April 26th at 1:00pm at Good Samaritan Society Bethany Chapel 804 Wright St Brainerd, MN. There will be a reception to follow from 3:00pm-5:00pm at the Brainerd VFW 309 S 6th St. Please come as you are. Bob would never want anyone to feel they need to dress up.
