Robert Bourassa Obituary Robert "Bob" Bourassa, 86, of Brainerd, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022, surrounded by love and family at Good Samaritan Village- Woodland. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 18, 2022, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to Mass and stay for a lunch to follow. Interment with Military Honors will be held at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Robert Walter Bourassa was born February 15, 1936, in Brained, the son of Walter and Lorraine (Flansburg) Bourassa. After attending St. Francis of the Lakes Catholic School; Bob was a member of the Washington High School class of 1954. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was proud to serve his country until his honorable discharge in 1958. Bob returned to Brainerd and began working at Potlatch. He worked there almost 38 years and retired as a supervisor. His grandchildren nicknamed him, "Silly Bob" because he was always telling jokes and finding ways to make you laugh. Often, just the sight of him riding his lawnmower with a stogie as he brought in the garbage or mail was enough to bring a smile to your face - he was a neighborhood legend. He also had a pretty good stash of gum that the grandchildren raided. Bob enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lot of time with his family and friends hunting and fishing. During the winter he prepared for his adventures and liked to tie flies. He was a faith-filled man who spent many Sundays ushering in the congregation at St. Francis Catholic Church. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Beryl; son, Bryan (Lisa) Bourassa; daughters, Bonita (Phil) Hayden, Paula Payton, and Nicole (Tony) Adams; stepchildren, Teri (Roger) Osell, Todd (Connie) Lyscio, Tim (Eunice) Peabody, and Tracy (Bob) Borash; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and siblings, Arlene (Chuck) Holst, Roberta (Gary) Bennewitz, Kathy (Ron) Rose, and Bruce (Bev) Bourassa. He was preceded in death by his parents and the mother of his children, Joanne Bourassa. In lieu of flowers, Bobs family is requesting donations to St. Francis of the Lakes Catholic School.
