Robert Rydholm Obituary Robert D. "Rip" Rydholm, 68, resident of Nisswa,passed away peacefully on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Essentia - St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. Born March 24, 1948 in Windom, Minnesota, he grew up in Winthorp, MN graduating from Winthrop High School in 1966. He participated in basketball, track, band and choir. Rip was an active member of the First Lutheran Church of Winthroup. He attended Gustavaus Adolphus and Mankato State University majoring in Aeronautical Engineering. Rip was involved in many trades, including silo and home construction and transcontinental Winnebago delivery. In 1981 Rip moved to the Brainerd Lakes area where he immediately made an impact in the hospitality area. Employment at Channel Inn and Granny's Pub as well as Bar Harbor Supper Club eventually led to his true calling at Zorba's on Gull Lake as Bar Manager. Rip is survived by his mother Eleanor Rydholm, Edina, MN and his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and John Kelso of Newport Beach, CA. For over 40 years, Rip has been an integral part of the Brainerd community participating in many activities but most importantly hanging with his life long friends, enjoying sports and traveling his infamous "Trap Line." Rip will be greatly missed by many including his two cats, Lucy & Lily. A Celebration of Rip's Life" will be held Saturday, August 13th at Zorba's on Gull Lake from 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers bless Rip with your presence at his celebration.
