Obituary

Ronald Ebinger Obituary With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ronald (Ron) Arthur Ebinger, at age 77, on Wednesday, March 12th, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving family. Ronald was born on Christmas day, 1947 to Norman C. and Irene S. (Billman) Ebinger in Brainerd, MN. His two wonderful parents raised Ron and his brother, Terry, with a great passion for family and, of course, hunting and fishing. A tradition the two brothers carried on with their own families. Ron brought love and joy to everyone he met. The purest and deepest of his love he saved for Susan (Sue) D. (Kounkel) Ebinger, his highschool sweetheart who he married on August, 12th 1965. Who could have imagined that two teenagers in love would turn into fifty nine years of marriage, three children, seven grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. A close knit family that he loved tenaciously. Ron Ebinger was a man whose mind was always bustling with thoughts and creativity. Due to this, he never sat still. He worked hard throughout the day, though to him, were not entirely sure it seemed like work. He would always put his full attention and energy into what he was doing. He enjoyed spending his time putting things together, taking them apart, and then creating something new; a process his family called "Ronifying", a practice that will be greatly missed. When Ron wasn't working in his garage at home or helping others with projects of their own, he would be with his family or friends, bringing them on excursions through the woods, across the ice, or even a journey through a memory at the dinner table. Ron had an amazing talent for playing his guitar and singing. For many years he played with The Staggers in the Brainerd area and was often compared to Randy Owen of Alabama. He made his debut as a bass player in his sons band, October Son, once. It didnt matter if he was playing on stage in a band or in the living room with an out of tune mandolin to his granddaughters, he always gave his best performance. Ron had a way of making you feel like the only person in the room. Your thoughts and smile were important to him. Friends, family, and even complete strangers can attest, his presence was like a big hug. Bringing you in and making you feel protected, loved, and valued. He would brighten a room with his smile and his stories. He had close friendships that he cherished deeply. Many of which he met during his 36 plus years working at Potlatch. Turning co-workers into fishing buddies, that turned into life-long friends he loved to the very end. There is so much more to say about Ron and not enough words to say it. He was an amazing man, who had many great adventures throughout the years with family and friends. In his last few days, he laughed, he smiled, he told stories, and he asked his family not to cry. He knew this request was hard, but he also knew that his words held a weight in their minds that they were going to cling to deeply, not only in the hours ahead, but also in the years to come. So next time you think of Ron Ebinger dont cry, smile at the memory you shared with him. Smile and know you are one of the lucky few who had the privilege of spending time with a man who made life worth living. Ron will be greatly missed by his wife Sue; daughters Rhonda (Matt) James, Christine (Mark) Sheflo, son Trevor (Tammy) Ebinger; grandchildren Scott, Amanda, Alyssa, Taylor, Eryn, Kaylin, Zachary; great granddaughter Charlotte; brother Terrence (Nancy) Ebinger; nieces, nephews; extended family; dear friends; and his yellow lab Bubba. Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, nephew William (Bill) Ebinger, and nephew Jimmy Kounkel. Private family services will be held in the Spring.
