Rose Poppie Obituary Rose Marie Poppie, age 95, formerly of Brainerd, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at the Glenn-Hopkins Terraces Senior Living in Hopkins, MN, with family at her side. Rose Marie was born to Frank and Katherine Chromy on August 31, 1928, in Grafton, ND. She grew up on the family farm along with brothers Francis and William where she rode in the Chromy Family Trick Horse Show, with all proceeds dedicated to the WWII war effort. She loved music and played piano in a regional band. Rose Marie married Robert (Bob) Poppie on her birthday in 1953 and they had six children: Deborah (James) DuBois; William (Gretchen); Teresa (predeceased); James (Shannon); David (Kristine); and Daniel (Jeanie). Rose Marie lived a faithful and interesting life. She was a magazine model when she and Bob lived in Baltimore, MD. She managed Bobs medical practice in Brainerd, enjoyed piloting a Cessna plane, was an accomplished seamstress, and the best cook ever! She was also instrumental in forming the Brainerd Amateur Hockey Association (BAHA). Above all, Rose Marie cherished her family and loved to spend time with her children, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. With her family she often said, "Every day is a gift!". The family sends heartfelt thanks to the loving staff of the Glenn-Hopkins, Park Nicollet Hospice, and Nelson Doran Funeral Home. Rose Marie will be laid to rest beside her husband in a private family ceremony at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.
