Ruth Badger Obituary Ruth Elizabeth Badger, age 90, of Brainerd, passed away in the early morning of Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church and interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd. Ruth was born in Crosby on April 2, 1933, the daughter of Emil and Hannah Marsyla. She graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School. Ruth married Harland Badger on February 5, 1955. The couple raised four children in Baxter, Minnesota. Ruth was an excellent cook at the Brainerd Elks Lodge and Mr. Steak. She volunteered at the local soup kitchen for many years. Ruth enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, feeding the birds, doing puzzles, playing games, reading, and hosting her family on the 4th of July. She cherished her time with her children, grandchildren, and her close friends. Ruth will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her four children Steven Badger of Brainerd, Linda (Richard) Resch of Barnum, Robert (Celeste) Badger of Baxter, Karleen Schmidt of Richfield, and son-in-law Jeffrey Schmidt of Brainerd. Ruth is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Kristin (Richard) Rhodas of Fair Oaks, CA, Jamie (Wendy) Tibbetts of Pequot Lakes, Danelle Tibbets of New Hope, Lindsay (Jeremy) Przybilla of Brainerd, Dylan (Emily) Badger of Pequot Lakes, Koltin Badger of Alexandria, Kari (William) Swanson of Zimmerman, Brian (Melissa) Resch of Grand Rapids, Elizabeth (Michael) Scofield of Brainerd, Mary (Curtis) Caughey of Brainerd, Bridget (Matthew) Gregerson of Alexandria, Carolyn (Alex) Holen of Tower City, ND, Megan Schmidt of St. Peter, and Nathan Schmidt of Red Lodge, MT. She is survived by her great-grandchildren, Evan & Lauren Rhodas, Mikaela Jones, Brielle Jones, Emma, Max, & Amelia Tibbetts, Hailey, Isaiah, Mya, Grayson, Cooper, Emery, & Becket Przybilla, Henry Badger, Eliott, Lauren, & Claire Swanson, Lydia, Lewis, Madelynne, & Violet Resch, Bryce, Camille, Fletcher, Sophia, & Katherine Scofield, Lucy, Felix, & Leo Caughey, Tom Gregerson, Orrin, Elsie, & Violet Holen; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her mother, Hannah Marsyla; father, Emil Marsyla; step-mother, Alena Marsyla; brother, Toivo Marsyla; sister, Sally Appledorn; husband, Harland Badger; daughter-in-law, Kathy Badger; and grandson, Lucas Schmidt.
