Sheridan F. Jaeche, age 90, passed away peacefully at his home in Brainerd, MN on February 8, 2026.

Sheridan was born on September 8, 1935, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Mary and Merle Jaeche.

He graduated from Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis in 1953, where he participated in football, track, and basketball. In 1953 to 1954, he attended Macalester College and played football before enlisting in the United States Army. Sheridan served honorably from October 18, 1954, to October 2, 1956, as a gunner in the 17th Field Artillery Battalion, Battery C, and was deployed during the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.

After completing his military service, Sheridan returned to Macalester College from 1957 to 1960, where he resumed playing football and earned his degree in History Education. He later obtained a Master's Degree in Teaching. While attending Macalester, he met Barbara, and the two were united in marriage on August 20, 1960.

Sheridan began his teaching and coaching career in St Charles, Minnesota from 1960-1961 teaching 8th Grade English and Social Studies and coaching basketball and football. Sheridan was hired in Frost, Minnesota, in 1962 serving as a teacher and head football coach. That year, he led Frost High School to a Border League Championship. In 1963-1966, he and Barbara moved to Hayfield, Minnesota, where he continued teaching and coaching football. During his time there, he led the team to Wasioja Conference Championships in 1963 and 1965 and also served as an assistant basketball coach.

In 1966, Sheridan returned to Minneapolis to teach and serve as assistant football coach at Patrick Henry High School. From 1972 to 1978, he was head football coach and history teacher at Marshall-University High School on the University of Minnesota campus, leading the team to a Tri-Metro Conference Championship in 1976 and another in 1977. He also coached sophomore and junior varsity basketball.

In 1979, Sheridan became head football coach and history teacher at Alexandria High School, serving until 1990. Under his leadership, Alexandria won conference championships in 1981, 1986, and 1987, and advanced to the Minnesota State Football quarterfinal playoffs in 1981 and 1986. He remained in the Alexandria School District for several years as a substitute teacher before officially retiring from teaching after 38 years of service.

Sheridan and Barbara enjoyed 26 years of living on the Alexandria chain of lakes, especially Lake Victoria and Lake Ida, where they spent time boating, fishing, swimming, and relaxing. In retirement, Sheridan enjoyed golfing and watching football and other sports. After many years in Alexandria, they moved to Sartell, Minnesota, to be closer to Veterans Administration medical services. They later relocated to Brainerd, Minnesota, where they lived for nine years, including time in an assisted living community. Sheridan enjoyed playing bingo, trivia games, and cribbage. His passion for teaching continued even then, as he taught U.S. History classes to fellow residents for several years.

Sheridan is survived by his children, Maureen Bauer (Steve) of Duluth, Minnesota, and Eric Jaeche (Billie Jo) of Brainerd, Minnesota; his sisters, Patricia "Pat" Keck of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Ginny Dalton of Greenville, South Carolina, and Rose Ramberg of The Villages, Florida; his grandchildren, Joseph Bauer and Samantha Bauer of Duluth, Minnesota, Grant Jaeche of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, Hayley Hillman of Brainerd, Minnesota, and Heather Jaeche of Duluth, Minnesota; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Jaeche; and his parents, Merle and Mary Jaeche.
