Shirley Fletcher Obituary Shirley Ann Fletcher passed away at her home peacefully with her husband and daughters by her side on December 2, 2024, at the age of 79. Shirley was born April 21, 1945, in Austin, MN. At the time of her death Shirley resided in Baxter, MN with her husband Merlyn Fletcher and daughter Lori Schroeder. Shirley married Merlyn Fletcher on October 25, 1975, and continued to live in Austin, MN until 1980 when they made a move to Howard Lake, MN where she lived with her family until 1987 then decided to head North ultimately landing in Baxter, MN. Shirley leaves behind her husband Merlyn that she shared 49 years of marriage with as well as her three daughters Joanie Rathkamp (Bud) of Sheridan, WY, Lori Schroeder of Baxter, MN, and Erica Hertzog (Randy) of Winsted, MN. Shirley had eight grandchildren Amanda, Ashley, Bobbi Joe, Jacob, Breanna, Alexis, Riley, and Olivia. Shirley also had two greatgrandchildren Noelle and Waylon. Shirley worked many different jobs over the years but had a few that were her favorites which included waitressing which allowed her to meet so many different people, Bailiff at the Crow Wing County Judicial Center, and Rover where she was able to love and care for other peoples dogs after losing her beloved Ivy too soon. Shirley had a talent and a heart that attracted all animals, but it was her love for dogs that earned her the title of Dog Whisperer. Her ability to love, care, and learn each dogs personality allowed her business with Rover to grow very quickly leading her to have a dog almost nonstop since starting her job with Rover because of the trust all dog parents had in her. Shirley loved hobbies such as bowling, playing cards, spending time at their trailer on the lake, spending time buying too many flowers but planting every one making her yard beautiful. Shirley also enjoyed crocheting and painting ceramics and many of her loved ones received gifts of blankets, potholders, kitchen washcloths, and many painted treasures. Shirley had a great sense of humor and was still making us all laugh even though she struggled these past few years with multiple different health issues. She fought a courageous battle through her health issues and continued to show us her never-ending zest for life. She will be missed greatly by all who loved her. Services will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 11am, at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather an hour prior for a visitation. Luncheon to follow.
