Shirley Nelson Obituary Shirley Ann Nelson, 83, of Wadena, formerly of Brainerd, died at Comfort Care Cottages in Wadena. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Shirley was born January 21, 1937, in Pequot Lakes, the daughter of Hans William and Clara Sina (Peterson) Nelson. After graduating from high school, Shirley began working as a seamstress. She worked at Brainerd Garment, as well as few other manufacturing facilities when she and her sister, Lylla traveled and lived in a couple other states. Shirley loved to visit with friends and was quite the social butterfly. She enjoyed her part-time job as an Avon Lady for more than 20 years. She was an avid reader. Shirley and her niece, Autumn had a special bond and Shirley wasnt shy with spoiling her. Shirley will be missed by her sister, Darlene and niece, Autumn (Jake Heppner). She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and sister, Lylla. Shirleys family is grateful for the loving care provided by Adrian and Theresa Erickson of Comfort Care Cottages.
