Obituary

Susan Bricker Obituary All of heaven rejoiced on January 14, 2025, when they welcomed Susan Lynn Bricker home. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 1pm at Timberwood Church in Nisswa. Visitation will be from 10:30am-12:30pm. She was born on February 26, 1954, to Delard R. and Gloria M. Carmichael in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Susan moved several times as a child, and graduated from the class of 1972 high school in McGregor, Minnesota. Susan went to technical college and studied cosmetology in Wadena, MN following high school. She worked for Daytons Beauty Shop "The Looking Glass" following her graduation in downtown Minneapolis. Susan met the love of her life Richard Bricker in 1974 through writing him as a pen pal (introduced to her by her brother-in-law Chuck Banks, as they were roommates in the US Army in Germany.) They married April 27, 1975. Susan introduced Rick to a customer at the salon who owned a family business "Dunrite Cleaners"! Rick was offered a job, hence learning the dry-cleaning business. Late in 1979 Susan became pregnant with Christopher, and as a result she started working out of her home as a manicurist. In 1985, the Dunrite location was bought out to build the Target Center downtown Minneapolis so they sold their home and moved to the North Shore to start a business; but it didnt take long to realize it would be very difficult to make a living in Lutsen, MN so a friend told them there was a dry cleaner business for sale in Brainerd, Minnesota. They drove to Brainerd and bought Crystal Cleaners on the spot. Susan worked along Rick at the cleaners for 39 years. Susan was the face and voice of Crystal Cleaners and the one who created the slogan "If your Clothes arent becoming to you Then you should be coming to us!" Susan had a Live Radio spot on WJJY for 30 years. Susan had a perfect personality as a business owner "she never met a stranger". She knew her customers and thought of them as her friends. Susan remembered every persons name as well as their families. It was always Susans smile and warm greeting or hug that captured the hearts of people. She volunteered with friends joining in community projects because of the people she met through bible study groups, church, the Chamber of Commerce, and Rotary. Susan belonged to the Central Lakes Rotary Club and worked endless hours on the projects she was passionate about especially the Human Trafficking project; being on the committee organizing the REHT festival. Being a member at Timberwood Community Church in Nisswa for many years, Susan loved life and loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was never shy about sharing her faith! She worked and played hard her entire life. Susan was proceeded in heaven by her husband Richard C. Bricker, the love of her life; her parents, her grandparents, and her Godson Zachariah J. Williams Susan is survived by her son, Christopher Charles Bricker; her granddaughter Madilyn Rose Bricker; her sisters Barbara Banks, Kathy Williams, Laura Dickson (Joseph); her brother Daniel Carmichael (Laurie); 10 nieces and nephews, 28 great nieces and nephews, and 1 great-grandniece.
