Susan Lenzen Obituary Susan Joy (Pulleyn) Lenzen Wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, accomplished musician and choir director, teacher, prayer warrior, quilter, mentor, chef, swimmer, EMT, counselor, gardener, and leader. Born February 2, 1949, in Rochester, New York to Richard and Phyllis Pulleyn. Died February 27th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Sue spent her early years in Pennsylvania. She later moved to South Dakota where she graduated from High School. After completing 2 years at Waldorf College in Forrest City, Iowa, she moved to Augsburg College in Minneapolis, where she met the love of her life. Don and Sue married on August 30th, 1969. They had 3 daughters Katie, Rebecca and Sarah. Sue had a passion for music, and could play nearly all the woodwind instruments, and piano. Sue used her musical gifts all throughout her life, singing, directing choirs, teaching piano and vocal lessons. Beyond her musical talents, she was called to minister to those around her, praying for everyone she met. From early in her married life, she began teaching a Bible Study for women. She continued this practice until a week before she died. Sue was an advocate for those being mistreated in any situation. She had compassion for those who were poor or needing a lift. Often, she would give a gift of money to those she met along the way who were in need. She taught so many of us how to pray, how to trust God, how to worship with all you have, and how to learn the Scriptures. She always had room at the table for an unexpected dinner guest and delighted in showing hospitality to others. Sue delighted in her family, her grandchildren, and her dear friends. She was always a gifted seamstress but discovered her love of the quilting art later in life. She and her quilting friends shared a passion for creating beautiful quilts, and blessing others with the creations. Sues life verse is Philippians 2:1-8, "Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being likeminded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others" Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Phyllis, and brother John. Sue is survived by her beloved husband, Don, her daughters, and their families: Katie (Carl) and her sons, CJ (Grace) and Noah (Sonora); Sarah (David) and her children, Ashley (Josh), Justin, Emma, and Grace; Rebecca (Chet), and her children Jesse and Susan. Sues brother Rick and his son John (Misty), and their children, Grace, Jackson, and Olivia. In addition to her immediate family are countless numbers of people who saw her as a spiritual mother and sister and grandmother. Together we celebrate Sue and all she brought to this life.
