Susan O'Leary Obituary Susan Elizabeth OLeary, 71, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024, after a lengthy illness, at home with her husband, Rick of 43 years by her side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd. Interment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens also in Brainerd. Susan was born on November 3, 1952, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa. Daughter of Alfred and Mary Ann (Steinbach) Riester. They resided on the family farm near Dunlap and Susan attended St. Joseph Catholic School until its closure. She completed her education at Dunlap Community High School, until she graduated in 1970. During Susans early years, she helped on the farm doing chores, doing fun activities, and babysitting during her high school years. Susan united in marriage to Richard OLeary on May 5, 1980. Rick & Sue made their home in Brainerd, MN. She was creative; she enjoyed sketching, drawing, baking, and calligraphy. She enjoyed bargain shopping, checking out thrift shops, and visiting. As Sue dealt with health concerns, she developed a strong faith throughout her life, and she shared that faith with her family and friends. Susan is survived by her husband, Rick; siblings, Ann (Dennis) Gute, Andy (Janet) Riester, Maggie (Tom) Bissen, Leo (Marianne) Riester, Mike (Paula) Riester; nieces and nephews; and friends. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Alfred, and Mary; brother, Francis (Frank) Riester.
