Susan Ziegler Obituary Susan Marie Ziegler, 72, of Brainerd, was welcomed into heaven by her loving savior, Jesus Christ, on August 6, 2024. And while tears may fall, we want to celebrate her life on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services and stay for a luncheon complete with Grandmas raspberry Jello. There will also be a visitation on Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Nelson - Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Sue lived to bring JOY to the world. She was a dedicated, creative, hardworking, effective and visionary educator who taught head and home start, nursery school, Early Childhood and Family Education, vocational education, kindergarten, K-1-2 Multi Age and masters level classes. She was also a literacy coach for primary grade level teachers and a teacher mentor. Sue spent 40 plus years inspiring each of those students - and those programs - to do better and be better. She held everyone to a high standard, because she allowed nothing - gave nothing less of herself. Her love of doing Gods work and her love of family made it difficult to leave - there were more games to play with the grandchildren, more dragonflies to catch, more chances to encourage and celebrate her childrens successes, more parties to host, and more children to teach. Her work wasnt done, and she wasnt ready to go even though she knew that eternal life awaited her. The legacy she built teaching in the Montevideo and Brainerd areas will live on - and the students she impacted will carry those lessons with them. The memories she leaves her family with are full of big smiles, and the constant reminder that a problem is just a problem to be solved. And she gave them - and so many around her - not only the tools to solve them, but the spirit to tackle those problems with a smile and a strong Faith. Sue hated saying goodbye. Now that she has been welcomed by God she will never have to say goodbye again. She will be welcoming us to eternal life. She will be missed by her husband of 52 years, Pete; children, Nathan (Tennille) Ziegler and Kristen (Steve) Carlisle; grandchildren, Abigail (Wyatt) Beemer, Zechariah Ziegler, Makiah Carlisle, Eleison Ziegler, Caleigha Carlisle, Brenley Carlisle, Javari Carlisle, Titus Carlisle, and Malachi Carlisle; stepmother Mavis Weingartner; sister, Barb (Gary) Erickson, brother in-law Terry Trottier; brother in-law Bernie (Ellen) Ziegler; brother in-law Dan Ziegler ; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Shirley (Mooney) Weingartner and sisters, Wendy Trottier and Patti Geffre. If you want to give flowers in Sues honor, we ask that instead of giving flowers for the service you buy some and give them to someone who is ill, shut-in, or in need of a pick-me-up.
