Theodore 'Ted' Tretter Obituary On October 22, 2024, Theodore 'Ted' A. Tretter passed away and joined his Creator in Heaven. Ted was born on June 28th, 1937, in Hillman, MN to Frank & Anna (Boser) Tretter. Ted enjoyed growing up with his 11 siblings on the farm. One of his fondest memories as a child was when hed help his dad hitch up and drive a team of horses. At the age of 19 he married Wanda Tomberlin of Fort Ripley and had three children Carrie (Jeff Olsen) Tretter, Laurie (Tom) Berg, Garth (Katie) Tretter. With only an 8th grade education, Ted continued learning and became a self-taught mechanic, fabricator, and equipment operator. Through the years he had various jobs and business endeavors all involving hard work and dedication including owning Hard Rock Construction which he started in 1975. Aside from work, Ted enjoyed coyote hunting with the hounds. He was an avid deer hunter and mainly loved the deer drives. Picking agates and gold mining also became a favored past time of Teds. However, what he enjoyed most in life was anything that involved being surrounded by family. Ted is survived by his three children; Carrie, Laurie, and Garth; daughter-in-law, Katie; five grandchildren, Lindsey (Shawn Larson) Erickson, Allie (Robert) Koval, Tyler (Anna) Tretter, Conner Tretter (Kayla Huntley), and Toni Tretter; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Daryl; sisters, Betty Waytashek and Gloria Thomsen; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and lots of friends. Ted is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Anna Tretter; brothers, Elmer, Norman, Marvin, Donnie; sisters, Cleora Schmuck, Janet Tretter, Elaine Bayer, Caryl McGuire, and Sharon Tretter; son-in-laws Tom Berg and Jeff Olsen. Teds family and friends meant the world to him, especially his grandkids. Anyone that met Ted for just a minute would say what a great guy he was; ever so caring and wanting to fix the world. Ted will be greatly missed by many. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Brainerd American Legion on November 2nd from 1-3pm. Please join us to celebrate and honor the life of Ted Tretter.
