Thomas Larson Obituary Thomas (Tom) Larson, age 81, of Brainerd, passed way peacefully on January 18th in Green Valley, AZ, surrounded by family and friends.
Tom was born on March 21, 1943, in Faribault, MN, the son of Edward and Hazel (Esklund) Larson. After graduating from high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1965, an experience he often described as a highlight of his life.
In 1967, Tom married Bonnie Ronholm, and together they raised two daughters. Tom is fondly remembered as the owner of Toms Pet and Hobby established in 1968, in downtown Brainerd.
In 1990, Tom married Marlee Wittmann. After retiring in 1999, he pursued his passion for woodworking. He purchased his first lathe, took classes, and quickly became a master woodturner. Over the next 18 years, Tom exhibited his art at juried shows and galleries, nationwide.
Tom was also an avid fisherman who deeply valued time spent on the water with his lifelong friends. Tom was a devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous, celebrating 40 years of sobriety and treasuring his AA community.
Tom and Marlee shared 35 years, filled with love, laughter, family, friends and grandchildren. He is survived by Marlee; children, Laura (Aaron) Johnson, Jill (Matt) Thompson and Tony (Amy) Wittmann; grandchildren, Seth Larson, Emily and Hanna Thompson, Shaylyn (Luke) Moberg, and Lillian Wittmann; and brother, Bob (Jeanne) Larson. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Larson.
Services will be held on June, 24th at St Andrews Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The Crossing Arts Alliance and Bridges of Hope. The family is deeply grateful for the kindness, support and prayers during this difficult time.
