Tomas Kuhn Obituary Tomas Edward Kuhn, 85, passed away on January 27, 2025, at Essentia Health St. Josephs Medical Center. Tom was born on July 18, 1939, to James Kuhn and Harriet Smith in Bloomington, Illinois.
Tom had a distinguished business career: Founder and Executive Producer of the TV show Soul Train in its early years, owner of Claudes French Restaurant and Le Club in downtown Chicago, Executive VP or partner in several Chicago and Minnesota Advertising Agencies, founder and partner in a wild rice company servicing the grocery industry.
Tom believed in God, attended Catholic boarding schools early in his life and received Last Rights prior to his death. Although a two-time survivor, he died from complications of throat cancer.
Tom is survived by his wife Patty McAndrews; children Christian Kuhn, Tom Scanlon and Susan Scanlon; niece Kimberlee Amling; nephews Ken Kuhn, Cameron Kuhn, Randy Kuhn, and their families.
He is preceded in death by his mother Harriet Smith; father James Kuhn; and brother John Kuhn.
