Yvonne Gilbertson Obituary Yvonne Gilbertson, 81, of Brainerd, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022, at Essentia Health St. Josephs Medical Center in Brainerd. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Yvonne was born June 9, 1940, in Superior, WI, the daughter of William and Marie (Willcox) Austin. She grew up in Duluth and she and her significant other moved throughout the Central United States. She began working at the Red Door on the north end of Mille Lacs, she worked at Grand Casino Mille Lacs, and later at the Isle of Carpi in Biloxi, MS before retiring to the Brainerd Lakes Area. Yvonne was a puzzle queen, card champion, and coloring master. She also liked to work with plastic canvas. She was a good person with a lot of spunk. She never got angry and was always willing to lend a hand. She loved being MeMa to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Yvonnes family would like to thank the staff at Good Samaritan in Nisswa and all her friends at Breath of Life Adult Day Care. Yvonne was the last of the Austin family and she will be missed dearly by her son, Jerry Hietala; foster son, Tracy Samways; daughters, Brenda Easley and Sherry (Gerald Pierzinski "Putz") Otterson; and son, Fred (Nancy) Johnson; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
