Barbara Anne (Lyons) Anderson

Barbara Anne (Bobby) Anderson, 87, of Eagle River, AK, formerly of Brainerd, died August 13, 2021

A funeral service will be held at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home, Brainerd on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to gather for one hour prior to the service.  Interment will take place at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.

Barbara was born January 12, 1934, in Brainerd, to Benjamin and Mary Anne (Albers) Lyons.  She was raised in Brainerd and graduated from Washington High School in 1952.  Barbara was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Allen Anderson on September 18, 1954 in Minneapolis.  The couple made their home in Brainerd, Florida, Cloquet and Baxter.  Barbara enjoyed reading and playing cribbage, canasta and solitaire.  She especially loved her family and grandchildren.  Barbara was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Eagle’s Club, and lifelong member of Veterans of Foreign War. 

She will be missed by her children, Thomas (Brenda) Anderson of McGregor and Lynn (Jack) Short of Eagle River, AK; sister, Diane Eksten; brother-in-law, Jerry Thompson both from Brainerd; grandsons, Robert (Whitney) Short, Steven (Jodi) Short, Patrick (Samantha) Anderson; numerous nieces and nephews and 11 great-grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; parents; sisters, Mary Anne Baakkonen, Donna Jean Garro, Renee Thompson; stepfather, Reino Baakkonen.
