Diane Miller Obituary

Diane {Norwood} Miller died peacefully on Thursday, March 21,2024 at the age of 86 at her home in Crosby, MN with her loving family by her side under the compassionate care of St. Croix Hospice.

Glenda Diane Norwood was born in Wink, TX on March 10, 1938, to George and Zilapha {Cook} Norwood. She was the first of five children, and was raised in the Brownwood, Texas area. Diane’s curiosity for the world was grounded in her desire to provide a great life for her family.

She married Curtis Miller on January 28, 1957. Curtis and Diane welcomed two daughters, Kim {1958} and Tammy {1960}, while living in Roswell, New Mexico. The oil business moved the family to Kansas, Wyoming, and then in 1964 they were able to settle down in Kenmare, North Dakota, where they raised their girls from kindergarten to graduation. During that time, they jointly operated Miller Oil Company. It was Diane’s proudest achievement to work with Curtis and support their family. After Curtis’ passing in 1996, she would attend St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas and was awarded bachelor’s degrees in Anthropology and Psychology, allowing her to continue her pursuit of understanding anything and everything.

Diane spent most of her time reading, researching, traveling, and trying to convince her daughters to let her adopt another dog. She is remembered for her piano playing, a glass of chardonnay, and hoarding way too many books. Her passing is her own greatest blessing - to be reunited with the love of her life.

Diane is survived by her daughters Kim Miller {Ray Chatelain}, Lago Vista, TX, Tammy {Brian} Pascavis, St. Paul, MN, grandchildren Johnny {Sally} Kurth, Richfield, MN, Molly Kurth, New York City, NY, step-granddaughter Emily Pascavis, Fargo, ND, and numerous nieces and nephews, mostly living in the State of Texas.

She is preceded in death by her husband Curtis, her grandparents George “Darling” and Bertha Norwood, her parents George Nolen and Zilapha Norwood, her sisters Christine Norwood, Betsy Green, Elizabeth Miller, brother, George Nolen Norwood, brother-in-law Regan Green, grandniece Nadalee Roseanne Smith, father and mother in-law Arch and Blanche Miller, sistersin-law, Eloise Austin, Avis Donaldson, and Barbara Riley.

A Celebration of her life will be held in the Candle Room at The Turtle Restaurant, 514 Center Avenue, Brownwood, Texas at 2 pm on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local hospice organization or animal shelter.
