Donald Trusty Obituary

Donald Eugene Trusty (Butch) was born January 10, 1944 in Little Falls, Minnesota. He was the oldest son of Chalmer and Ella (Paquin) Trusty. He grew up in Little Falls, and Brainerd, Minnesota. He graduated from Washington High School in Brainerd in 1962. He married Elizabeth Klaras on December 10th, 1966 at St Mathias Catholic Church. Don was a member of St Mathias Catholic Church, the Brainerd American Legion and the Plumber and Pipefitters union.

Don served in the Minnesota Army Reserves with his father. He enjoyed socializing with people. When he was younger, he could be seen frequently on the local ball teams playing fastpitch. He got to enjoy watching his son and granddaughter play together this summer on the same team. Don enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life – even cancer could not keep him from doing them; he loved the camaraderie that these activities brought with them. He loved being able to get outdoors and do things, even four wheeling, and most recently he could be found getting around on his golf cart. Don could always be counted on for some great conversation and a beer or two!

Donald will be greatly missed by his family, his children, Philip (PJ) and Coni Trusty, Klaras and Duane Luithle all of Ft. Ripley; 3 granddaughters; 2 great grandsons; sisters, Polly Warner, Mary Beth Trusty, Melanie (Joe) Burgraff, and brother Jayme (Sheila) Trusty. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Elizabeth, his parents, Chalmer and Ella Trusty; grandson, Dominic Trusty; and his father and mother-in-law, James and Barbara Klaras.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7th, 2020 at St. Mathias Catholic Church with Father Beau officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6th with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd and one hour prior to Mass on Wednesday. Burial will be in Fort Ripley Cemetery.
