Edith Lambert Obituary

Edith G. Lambert, 100, of Brainerd, passed away at Good Samaritan Village – Woodland on Sunday, June 27, 2021.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Brainerd.  Family and friends are invited to gather Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Nelson – Doran Funeral Home and again one hour prior to Mass at the Church on Tuesday.  A luncheon will immediately follow Mass.  Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd.

Edith was born February 6, 1921, in Hiles, Wisconsin, the daughter of Gustav and Katherina (Bremer) Polzin.  Edith graduated from Rhinelander High School.  And although she had dreams of joining her friends at jobs in the city, she stayed home to care for her dad.  Her mother died when Edith was just 19.  In 1943, Edith married the love of her life, Howard R. Lambert.  The couple was devoted to one another from the start.  Their life was full of good times but also ones that broke their hearts.  They lost two daughters.  Edith’s faith was strong, and it helped the couple and family endure the trials and learn to truly enjoy the good times.  She was a hard worker who enjoyed her jobs as a psychiatric technician at the state hospital, bookkeeper for an implement business, and telephone operator.  Later in life, she also helped Howard operate his insurance company.

Edith was an avid project master; she knitted, crocheted, painted, quilted, sewed, gardened, and canned.  She and Howard enjoyed traveling.  They visited Mexico, Alaska, Switzerland, the Caribbean, and more.  They most enjoyed their annual fishing trips to Canada.  Edith was also active in the St. Christopher's Guild at St. Andrew's as well as the Mission Quilters.

She will be missed by her children, Bruce (Diane) Lambert, Edie (Hal) Peterson, Spike (Nancy) Lambert, and Fred Lambert; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; daughters, Sharon and Sharol; granddaughter, Linda; great-granddaughter, Tiffany; and siblings, Clara, Ervin, and Carl.
