Edwin “Ed” Duus, 65, of Lakeshore, passed away at his home Tuesday, July 20, 2021, after a three-year battle with prostate cancer.
The family invites you to celebrate “Fast Eddie’s Last Show” on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at the Pillager Community Center from Noon until 6 p.m. There will be a service honoring Ed held at 2 p.m. His family encourages you to arrive in a car Ed would be excited to see and maybe be prepared to grab a dollar-item or two from his collection. Graveside Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, August 2, 2021 at Greenwood Cemetery in Nisswa.
Ed was born on July 30, 1955, in Brainerd, the son of Marvin and Evelyn Duus. After high school, Ed went right to work. He started with a job doing what he loved – cars; however, when he started his family, he found a position at Potlatch was the best fit. It also allowed him to retire early. He returned to his passion – cars. He enjoyed attending auctions and swap meets to dig through car parts, hoping to find the items that offered the best return. Ed loved his family and friends and looked forward to his daily coffee dates with grandson, Allen. He also relished in walks and rides with his dog, Buddy right by his side. When Ed was diagnosed with prostate cancer, he made it his mission to be informed. He was a well-researched advocate for his own health and became impassioned about encouraging others to be aware themselves.
Ed will be missed by his son, Barry Duus, of Lakeshore; daughter, Angie (Jeremy Ament) Duus, of Lakeshore; grandson, Allen (Haley) Duus, of Lakeshore; and best friend, Rod Kimball, of Pillager. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Gerald Duus and John Hasch.
