Gloria Boberg Obituary

PLEASE NOTE:  Services for Gloria Boberg have been postponed until Saturday, October 2 at 11 a.m. at Lakewood Church in Baxter.

Gloria Annette Boberg, of Lake Hubert, Minnesota, left the care of her family and went into the care of the Lord on September 5, 2021. She was at home, surrounded by her family, who sang hymns to her as she parted. At 96, given her various ailments, she had outlived her doctors expectations and fought hard, with a great attitude, until the end.

Her life in many ways came full circle. She spent much of her childhood on the resort her family owned and operated (present day, Upper Cullen resort.) She graduated from Pequot Lakes High school (1943), worked for Standard Oil company in California to help the war effort (WWII) and then returned to Minnesota to attend the prestigious Methodist-Kahler Nursing school in Rochester, Minnesota. Upon becoming an RN, she took a job in Los Angeles California, working for a physician there. However, living and working at a family lake resort was to return to her life when she was courted by and married resorter Jim Boberg. Together they raised three boys and a girl and ran Beachland Cottages on Lake Hubert for the next fifty plus years.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Gaylord and Edith Wass; her two brothers, Marvin & Lloyd Wass; and her husband, James Boberg.

She is survived by her four children, Eric, Lori (Pierre), John (Mary Kay), and Dan (Lynn); nine grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Our thanks to Dr. Severson, nurse practitioner Adam English, and nurse John at the Center for Orthopedics at Cuyuna Medical center for all their help in making Gloria’s last year’s more tolerable. The Wound Care technicians at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Steph and Mellisa, also deserve our profound thanks. Thank you to Dr. Daniel Johnson and nurse Paula at Urgent Care/Essentia Health for their care. Last but not least, Joleen and Molly, our first home care nurses, you were much appreciated!

Gloria Boberg loved much and was loved much. She was generous, patient, kind and oh so grateful for any kindness extended her way. With much love she poured her life into the success of her husband and children. She wanted each one to know Jesus, but not just them, but you too dear reader. She would never win “Citizen of the Year” or “Outstanding Club Member”, but as a mom who gave 100% to her family, she’s in the Mom Hall of Fame.

A memorial celebration of Gloria’s life is planned for Saturday, October 2 at Lakewood Church in Baxter. Visitation is at 10am - 11am. Service at 11am with lunch to follow.

Arrangements are with Nelson-Doran Funeral Home.
