Janet (Block) Meyer

Janette “Janet” M. Meyer, 93, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society – Bethany in Brainerd. 

Janet was born January 4, 1927 to Bernard and Adelheid Block, formerly of Lastrup. Janet grew up on the family farm outside of Pierz with her five brothers and four sisters.  On March 31, 1948, she married Ervin Meyer in Pierz.  They farmed for quite a few years near Pine Center, then moved to Merrifield.  Janet worked at the State Hospital in Brainerd.  Upon her and Ervin’s retirements, they traveled extensively throughout the United States.  They eventually had a winter home in Casa Grande, AZ.

Besides traveling, Janet loved the time she spent with her children and their families.  Many fun and loving memories were created.  She also enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, dominoes, Scrabble and working in her flower garden.

Janet is survived by her sons, David (Teri), Jeffrey (Mary), Todd, and Charles (Sherry); daughters, Bonnie (Randy) Powers and Beverly; daughter-in-law, Patricia; brother, Clarence; and sisters, Lori, Addie, and Grace.  Janet was blessed with 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; son, Wayne; grandson, Fredric Powers; and daughter-in-law, Jody.

The family would like to thank the staff at Good Samaritan Society – Bethany and Good Samaritan Hospice.  Memorials preferred to the VFW Post 1647, 309 S 6th St., Brainerd.  

Services will be held in the summer of 2021, and will be announced at a later date.
