Jeanne L. Koeppl, 95, of Brainerd, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021, at Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples. A Celebration of Jeanne’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2021, at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Pastor Patty Bjorklund will officiate. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services at the church on Friday or Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Nelson – Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd.
Jeanne was born March 22, 1926, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Gunnard and Laura Anderson. She graduated from high school and continued her education at St. Cloud State University. Since 1947, Jeanne has lived in Brainerd. She taught 2nd grade for the Brainerd School District for 38 years.
In 1961, Jeanne married Ed Koeppl. He was killed in accident not long after their marriage.
She was active in many organizations in Brainerd: First Lutheran Church, Brainerd Garden Club, Crow Wing County Historical Society, Northland Arboretum, REAM, American Swedish Institute, and St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary, where she crocheted hundreds of hats for newborns.
Jeanne’s favorite place to be was at her home on Gladstone Lake – and when she couldn’t be there she found comfort at her home away from home, her brothers’ place. She was an avid traveler and marveled at the beauty she found in the Black Forests of Germany, the special relatives she met in Sweden, the majesty of the Canadian Rockies, and the breath-taking views in Hawaii.
She truly loved her family and her friends. They were what made her life full and happy.
She is survived by her nephew, Jeffrey (Sue) Anderson, of Wayzata; sister-in-law, Grace; and many friends and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; parents, Gunnard and Laura; brother, Warren Anderson; and niece, Denise Anderson.
Memorials are preferred to: First Lutheran Church in Brainerd, American Swedish Institute, or Habitat for Humanity of Brainerd.
