John Aylward Obituary

John E. Aylward, 67, of Pillager, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021 at his home with his family and puppy, She by his side.  There will be a celebration of John’s Life held from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Nelson – Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd.  The family will continue honoring John’s Life with a reception at his son, Justin’s home after the service.

‘Uncle’ John Emmett Aylward Was born May 29th, 1953. After raising himself through sheer will power, he was blessed with two wonderful children from his marriage to Teresa Halverson, who ultimately gave his life its biggest purpose. His love for cars and mechanics became infectious to those around him as he became a mentor and expert, teaching many around him the right way to do anything. He was always up for showing his poker buddies how to win and he enjoyed all the times they spent together. Genuine friends meant the world to John, and he was always one to his own. Uncle John loved the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and watching wildlife in his own backyard. He and his life partner, Sheila Wgeishofski, shared 16 years together and she gave him 2 ‘illegitimate’ daughters and a furry gal who was his best friend, ‘She’, who also got to say her goodbyes. Some of his last words were that Sheila was the best thing to happen to him. In reality (because he was heavily medicated) they were the best thing to happen to each other. John was blessed with 5 grandchildren. 4 girls and one boy. If you really wanted to see him smile all you had to do was ask him about his grand babies. John lived by being an honest man who paid all his bills on time. Yes, he wants you to know that. If he said he was going to do something, he did it. That not only made him proud but also set an example to so many he loved and loved him. He was a man of his word. If you needed help, he was there. Because ‘Uncle’ John valued what’s really important, he did not want a sad, sappy funeral. John wanted a celebration where everyone could come together and laugh, enjoy each other, and reminisce of the great times he shared with everyone who loved him. ‘Uncle’ John will be deeply missed by many, but mostly his life partner, Sheila Wgeishofski, and his amazing children and their children: Justin and Mary Aylward (Skylar and Sydney), Chaycie and Jason Kramer (McKenna and Karsen), Lanay and DJ Asmus, Jenna and Patrick Rosenquist (Weston). At his request, part of his cremations will be released in the Mississippi River so he can eventually attend Mardi Gras.

Your love is felt by many and we look forward to seeing you again, Uncle John.
