Juanita Joan Peterson passed away on August 5, 2021, surrounded by family at her home in Baxter.
Juanita was born on November 22, 1943, in Minneapolis to Arthur and Lucille (Borders) Hanggi.
Juanita attended school in Brainerd and had lived and worked in the Brainerd Lakes Area ever since moving here as a small child. She was a loving, hardworking, and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was very private, resilient, proud, and loved all in her life unconditionally, never judging. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, picking berries, being in nature, antiquing, was an extremely talented artist, and treasured being in her home while spending time with her family.
Juanita is survived by her children, Vonda Gendron, Long Prairie; Marcia (Jeff) Miller, Pillager; and Kerri Nord, Brainerd. She is survived by her six grandchildren, John Gendron, Anita Gendron, Mary Gendron (Justin Ebertowski), Brett Johnson, Beatrice King, and Amanda Roettger (Nate Hill); four great grandchildren, Elijah, Ethan, Silas and Austin; and her brother, George Hanggi, Florida.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, and her life partner, Meryl Alters, Sr.
The family would like to thank the team of angels at Knute-Nelson Hospice for their unwavering support and the love they showed our mother during her last weeks, and for their assistance in honoring her final wishes to remain at home.
Arrangements are being held through Nelson-Doran Funeral Home. Juanita had requested no formal services be held. Condolences to the family can be made through the funeral home, if desired.
