Karen M. Thompson (Sunding), age 77, of Crosslake formerly Brainerd, passed away unexpectedly on 11-04-2020. She was born 1-12-1943 to parents Welcome and Sylvia Sunding in Redwing Minnesota. She was married to Dennis A. Thompson. Karen is survived by sons Matthew Thompson (Jill), Daniel Thompson (Peggy). Sisters Mary Frei, Janis Sieve (Mark), and Kristin Sonquist (Jim). Grandchildren Catie Waller-Getchell (Zac), Emily Thompson, Hanna Thompson, Mike Meyer and Seth Larson. Great grandchildren Roberta, Linda and Zachary. Also many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by mother Sylvia Sunding, father Welcome Sunding and husband Dennis A. Thompson. She enjoyed many things such as traveling, gardening, and nature. She loved the company of family and friends and was involved in everyone's lives. She was a grateful member of Alanon for 50 years. Karen and her husband Dennis owned and ran Uncles arcade in Brainerd for 15+ years. They enjoyed helping and spending time with all the kids. They also owned and ran concession stands at BIR (Brainerd International Raceway) for 20+ years. She loved going to the family cabin on Leech Lake. She will be greatly missed by many.

Due to the ongoing pandemic and the restrictions on gatherings we will not be having a funeral at this time. However we are working on a date for June 2021 for a Celebration of life at her granddaughter Catie's house in Grand Rapids MN. Please feel free to reach out to family members about any donations and updates on her Celebration of Life.
