Lowell Robert Johnson ‘Bob’, age 81, of Brainerd, died on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at his home.

Bob was born to Lowell and Ethel (Holmquist) Johnson in Willmar, MN. Throughout his school years he participated in track, basketball and football. He then attended Gustavus Adolphus College where he was an outstanding football player until a head injury ended his football career and put his education on hold. Several years later he graduated from St. Cloud State University and eventually earned his Master’s degree from Bemidji State University. Bob enjoyed his 30-year career as a teacher and coach at both St. Francis Elementary and Brainerd Public Schools.

Bob aka ‘Bobby J.’ was loved by his students and appreciated by staff for his ability to work well with others. He had a significant connection to those who got to know him. He was an active member of the community, as he was involved in Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4H Leader, Ducks Unlimited and was a NMAHA President. His hobbies included all sports, hunting, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling and horseback riding in Medora, ND, and the Black Hills in SD. Bob was an avid woodworker, creating beautiful furniture and accent pieces, often given as gifts to friends and family.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, Jenny; two children, Holly (Dave) Connaker and Mike (Molly) Johnson; grandchildren, Evan, Sawyer, Cullen and Gavin; sister, Sharon Eddy, many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving pet Birdie.
