Lucille Schellin Obituary

Lucille Marion (Mogensen) Schellin, age 95, of Brainerd, passed away on April 20, 2022 at Good Samaritan Society Woodland. She was born in Brainerd on February 25, 1927 to Pete and Luella Mogensen. She was united in marriage to her dancing partner Roy Schellin on October 23, 1946 in Brainerd.  She lived her entire life in the Crow Wing County/South Long Lake area.

She was involved in the Buffalo Creek 4-H club for over 20 years, receiving many awards for her leadership.  She was a life member of the VFW Post 1647, Brainerd. She loved dancing, bowling, gardening, feeding the birds, and watching her kids and grandkids play ball.  She never missed a game.

She is preceded in death by her husband Roy, parents Pete and Luella, brothers Toni and Maurice Mogensen, sister Evelyn Wolvert, and son-in-law Owen Bjerkness.  Survived by her son Stephen (DeeAnn) Schellin, daughter Caralee Bjerkness, grandchildren Michael (Kristi) Bjerkness, Jamie (Jeremy) Neyens, Priya (Leo) Muehr, Gerritt (Molly) Schellin, SteveAnna (Ryan) Williams, and 16 (soon to be 17) great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Friday, May 6 at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the First Lutheran Church of Brainerd or VFW Post 1647, Brainerd.

Lucille’s family would especially like to thank the nurses and staff at Elmwood Memory Care House and Good Samaritan Society Woodland Nursing Home for the care they gave to our loved one.
