November 28, 1942 ~ March 23, 2020 (age 77)

Obituary

Marilyn J. Jones, 77, of Nisswa, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2020, at Essentia Health - St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd with her daughter, Jeannette and son-in-law, Justin by her side.

Marilyn was born on November 28th, 1942 in Milwaukee, WI the daughter of Raymond (Bud) and Eleanor (Groppi) Schreihart.  She graduated with her bachelor’s degree in teaching and was an elementary school teacher in Milwaukee for about 18 years. She married Clyde Jones on November 19, 1983 at Church of the Immaculate Conception in Milwaukee and after they married the couple moved to St. Paul, MN.  Later they moved to Nisswa where she was a substitute teacher at local elementary schools. She also worked at Bright Beginnings Daycare in Brainerd and part time at Walmart after she had retired from teaching. She volunteered at the Senior Center on Thursdays to help with the donuts. She was a devout Catholic, had a very strong faith, and attended St Christopher’s Catholic Church in Nisswa, as well as St. Andrew’s and St Francis Catholic Churches in Brainerd. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  Marilyn was selfless, kind, compassionate and always positive. Smiles never left her face. She loved gardening, reading, and spending time with her grandson, Oliver. Her health gave her many obstacles throughout life, but she never let it get her down - we called her the energizer bunny. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Jeannette (Justin) Anderson; grandson, Oliver; siblings, Ellen (Jerry), Gloriann, Jane (Kris), and Michael; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; parents, Raymond “Bud” and Eleanor; brother-in-law, Dennis; and sister-in-law, Karen.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Marilyn’s Life at a later date. Her internment will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.
