Mark Owen Beckerleg, 69, of Brainerd, passed away on December 24th, 2020 at his home.

Mark was born on September 2nd, 1951 in Fargo, ND. He was the middle of five children born to his late parents, Johnie and Evelyn Beckerleg. He was a graduate of Moorhead Campus School in 1969. In 1971 he entered the United States Army. Mark was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1972. After the war, he became a carpenter in Fargo. Mark married Rebecca Lea Bernu on January 14, 1984 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND. He lived with his family in the Fargo area until 1998 when they moved to Brainerd, MN, where he worked as the Residential Project Manager for Jim’s Electric for 8 years. Mark then worked in construction until his retirement.

Mark’s talents were many. He was an experienced carpenter/woodworker, and spent countless hours restoring and refinishing items – keeping some and giving others as gifts. His most recent project was renovating the new home he and wife Rebecca purchased on Crow Wing Lake. Mark was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He was also an avid fisherman and Minnesota sports fan. He enjoyed working in his yard, golfing, grilling, cooking, and spending time with his family.

His humor, love, and generosity towards his family will be deeply missed.

Mark is survived by his wife of 36 years, Rebecca; daughter, Jennifer (Brandon) Thompson; son, Jacob (Liz) Beckerleg; siblings, Diane Olson, Dennis (Mary) Beckerleg, Judy (Jay) Stillwell, and Casey (Carolyn) Beckerleg; grandchildren, Riley and Jackson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents Johnie and Evelyn Beckerleg, father-in-law Ernest Bernu, and brother-in-law Dewey Olson.

A private visitation with be held by his family on January 23rd, 2020 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter, MN.
