Mark Trees, age 72 of East Gull Lake, died at his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.
Mark was born to Marvin and Margie (Johnson) Trees on May 12, 1949 in Esterville, IA. He grew up and spent the majority of his young adult life in Forest City, IA. He graduated from Drake University with a double major in political science and history. One of Mark’s many passions in life was cars, he could be considered a walking encyclopedia for anything related to automotive. He was active in sports; specifically, long distance running, rollerblading, water skiing, and long walks with his loved ones. His grandchildren were lucky to see him attending their sporting events, because that inevitably meant they would be taken to ice cream afterwards. His love for sweets wasn’t limited to ice cream – any dessert he ate was ‘the best he ever had’. Mark was protective, optimistic, and sparked ambition in those he loved. Because of this, his memory will live on in the smiles and successes of his family.
Mark is survived by his significant other, Roxanne Tuomi; children, Jason (Christa) Rasinski and Allison (Tim) Peterson; 12 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; siblings, Marion (Rhonda) Trees, Marty (Lona) Trees, Mary (Marv) Kingland, Marshall (Mary) Trees; and many other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to thank Essentia Health - St. Joseph’s Medical Center team and Good Samaritan Society Hospice for their exceptional care.
Memorials are preferred to Good Samaritan Society Hospice.
