Michael Carl Schuety

Michael “Mike” Schuety, 68, of Merrifield, passed away after a battle with AML Leukemia, surrounded by his wife and sons, on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 3, 2021, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd.  Family and friends are invited to gather one-hour prior to Mass at the Church and Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Nelson – Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd.  Interment will take place at Mission Township Cemetery.

Mike was born September 24, 1952, in Brainerd, the son of Laverne and Irene (Myran) Schuety.  After graduating from Brainerd High School, Mike continued his education at Brainerd Junior College.  In 1977, he married Deborah Feierabend.  Mike enjoyed the outdoors; he especially liked hunting, fishing, and taking walks.  He never turned down his brother’s invite to go blueberry picking – not because he loved picking berries, but because he liked the time with his brother and the pies that were made.  After retiring from the railroad in 2013, Mike thoroughly enjoyed retirement.  He and Debbie took many road trips to California and North Dakota to visit their sons and grandchildren.

He will be missed by his wife of 44 years, Debbie; sons, Chad (JD), Dave (Brekke), Eric, and Jeff (Courtney); grandchildren, Caden, Luci, Dashel, Vayda, and Sylvie; siblings, Stephen (Kathi) Schuety, Mary (Richard) Peterson, Linda (Mike) Ramsdell, Karen Schuety, and Sharon (Dean) Langer; and all of Debbie’s family who loved Mike so much.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
