Nancy Marie (Holtegaard) Schwanbeck

Nancy Marie Schwanbeck, age 71, of Lake Shore, Minnesota, passed away on August 9, 2023 with her family lovingly by her side.

Nancy was born in St. Charles, Minnesota on September 19, 1951 to Conrad and Margaret Holtegaard.  She lived an active childhood as the youngest of three girls, including Helen and Mary, attending St. Charles public school.

In 1973 she met her husband, soulmate and best friend, Greg Schwanbeck.  They married in 1975 and moved to Junction City, Wisconsin.  Two years later, they were blessed with a daughter, Nicole.  Three years later, after moving to Lewiston, Minnesota, they were blessed with another daugther, Megan.  In 1983, they moved to Lake City, Minnesota, where they raised their family.   Nancy worked for many years as a loan specialist for Mid America Credit Union in Rochester, Minnesota, which ultimately became Think Bank. 

In 2019, after many years of commuting "up north" almost every weekend in the summer, Nancy and Greg retired to Lake Shore full-time, following Nancy's love of the lake, sunset cruises on the pontoon, and quiet evenings in the garage or by the fire laughing with close family and friends.

In 2021, Greg and Nancy decided to take a regular break from the Minnesota winter, and began spending time with friends for several weeks each year in Arizona, enjoying the local weather, friends, and time exploring the beauty of the desert.  They also enjoyed travel in retirement, spending time not only in Minnesota but also regularly visiting family on the East Coast, and traveling to Mexico, Spain, Germany, Italy, and Slovenia.

Nancy's generosity and thoughtfulness made her loved by many, and she is remembered as a being kind, patient, and gracious by all who knew her.  She loved animals, nature, and her family deeply -- always making time to help, connect, and support in anyway possible.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and is survived by her husband Greg, her daughters Megan and Nicole, and her three grandchildren Alden, Pearl, and Chase.

Consistent with her fun-loving and low-key nature, there will be no formal service. Simply, Nancy's mandate was to throw a great party, and therefore a celebration of life is being planned in her honor.  Details to follow.
