Randall Linquist Obituary

Randall “Randy” Linquist, age 62, died unexpectedly at his Merrifield home on September 30, 2020.

He was born on November 12, 1957 to James and Maxine (Baker) Linquist in Grand Forks, ND. In 1976 he graduated from Cambridge-Isanti High School and then attended Hennepin Technical College, receiving his Associates Degree. He worked as a painter and ran his own business, Linquist Painting.  In his later years, he worked for Excel Painting. In 1996, he married Linda Christopherson, and for many years, they lived in their home on North Long Lake before moving to Merrifield in 2019.

After his father’s death, Randy and his sisters were blessed to have their stepfather, Don Manthei in their lives until his passing in 2018.

Randy enjoyed hunting and went on several hunting trips to Montana with friends. He liked living on North Long Lake and was an avid fisherman for many years. In his younger days, he also liked to go snowmobiling with friends. Randy took great pride in his work as a painter. When he was in good health, he appreciated the company of friends and family, and insisted on handling the grilling duties for barbeque get togethers at his home on the lake.

Randy is survived by his wife of 24 years, Linda Linquist; mother, Maxine Manthei; sisters, Tana (Kenny) Krona, Lisa (Kevin) Knettel, and Marla (Tom) Elgin; sister-in-law, Carla Christopherson (Tom Strong), nieces, Alexandra and Lindsey; and nephew, Franco. He was preceded in death by his father, James Linquist and his stepfather, Don Manthei.

A short memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home, Brainerd with Pastor Nate Lundgren, officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home after the service until 3:00 p.m.
