Sandra "Sandy" Every Obituary

Sandra “Sandy” Loraine Every, age 79, of Brainerd, died on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society Bethany from complications of COVID-19.  A Celebration of Sandy’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Nelson – Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd.  Family and friends are welcome one-hour prior.  Interment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Sandra was born on August 23, 1941 to Norman and Loraine (Zimbrick) Viken in Minneapolis, MN. She met the love of her life, Darlys V. Every, while she was a student at St. Cloud State University. Sandra had noticed a photograph of her future husband in one of her friend’s dorm rooms and wanted to know who he was. The two began writing to one another and she could not wait to meet him. They went on a triple date one night and when Sandra saw him with his green and white sweater, with brown eyes and red hair she was smitten. The couple was married June 2, 1962 and spent 54 years of marriage together until Darlys’ death in 2016.

Sandy was a social butterfly, she loved people. She was an amazing caregiver all her life, raising three girls and caring for Darlys after he contracted polio during the polio epidemic in 1952. Sandy enjoyed word finds, knitting, playing cards and bingo, going to the casino, and going out to eat. She had a lovable, feisty personality. Sandy was simply happy and very content with life.

Sandy is survived by her daughters, Glenna Brown (Doug Marshall) of Pillager, Darla Robertson of Fort Ripley, and Denise (Rajtilak) Majumdar of Hamburg, PA; grandchildren, Brandon (Sarah) Brown, Jocelyn (Ethan) Moore, Lars (Kara) Robertson, Levi Robertson, Cody Robertson, and Supriya Majumdar; her sister, Cindy (Quentin) Brinkworth of Lenexa, KS; and sister-in-law, Judy Viken of Ely, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Darlys; granddaughter, Megan Marva Bunch; and her brother, John Viken.
